Summary
UK AIR and radon maps help you check environmental risk that is not obvious from a viewing. UK AIR supports air quality context, while UKHSA radon maps identify areas with higher radon potential.
Definition
DEFRA UK AIR is the UK air quality information resource and includes background mapping data used to support local air quality review and assessment. Background maps provide modelled pollutant concentrations for pollutants such as nitrogen oxides, nitrogen dioxide, PM10 and PM2.5 on a 1 km grid. UKHSA radon maps show radon potential and help identify Radon Affected Areas, where a higher proportion of homes may have elevated radon levels. For an area check, use UK AIR for broad air quality context, especially near roads or industrial sources, and use UKHSA radon information to decide whether further property level checks or measurement packs are sensible.
