If you allow analytics cookies, BeforeYouMove records page-use measurements for flagship research routes so the service can improve without storing full addresses or raw search text.

If you allow preference cookies, BeforeYouMove may store your last checked area or postcode in bym_last_location. If you switch preference cookies off, that cookie is removed and the site will ask you to search again next time.

Shortlist cookies

The shortlist uses an opaque identifier only

We use a functional cookie to remember your shortlist. The cookie stores a random identifier only. Your shortlisted areas and postcodes are stored securely by BeforeYouMove so you can return to them later. We do not store full addresses in the shortlist during this phase.

Last location memory

Preference data deserves extra care

If you allow preference cookies, we may remember the last area or postcode you searched for so the site can keep your decision journey consistent across pages. You can change the area or postcode at any time, and you can switch preference cookies off from cookie settings.
