Summary

One Touch Switch is the UK residential broadband and landline switching process designed so the new provider leads the switch. It reduces the need for customers to coordinate cancellation with the old provider.

Definition

One Touch Switch is the gaining provider led process for residential landline and broadband switching. In normal use, the customer chooses a new provider, the new provider manages the switch, and the customer should not have to contact the old provider just to cancel the old service. Ofcom’s rules also aim to avoid unnecessary notice period charges after the switch date and protect customers if switching problems leave them without service for more than one working day. Before moving, check whether your order is a switch or a new line, because new build, fibre install, cable install and moving home scenarios may involve different operational steps.
