Summary

Northern Ireland does not have the same open address level sold price register as England and Wales. The Northern Ireland House Price Index is the key official source for area level house price movements.

Definition

The Northern Ireland House Price Index is an official quarterly statistical series produced from Northern Ireland residential property sales data. It measures change in the price of residential property sold in Northern Ireland and provides figures such as average price, number of sales and index value. Because Northern Ireland does not publish a public address level sold price register equivalent to HM Land Registry Price Paid Data, buyers normally use the NI House Price Index for market direction and combine it with surveyor advice, local agent evidence, current listings and property specific due diligence.
