ETI inspection conclusions (Northern Ireland)

Summary

The Education and Training Inspectorate, known as ETI, inspects education and training provision in Northern Ireland. ETI reports usually identify strengths, areas for improvement and an inspection conclusion about the provider’s effectiveness or capacity for improvement.

For buyers in Northern Ireland, the key is to read the current ETI report together with the school’s published admissions criteria, Education Authority admissions guidance and any relevant transfer or selection arrangements. In many areas, especially for grammar schools, admissions criteria may matter as much as proximity. Inspection conclusions are useful, but they do not tell you whether your child is likely to obtain a place.

Definition

ETI inspection conclusions are the inspection outcomes and narrative findings published by Northern Ireland’s Education and Training Inspectorate. They describe the quality of provision, strengths, areas for improvement and the school’s effectiveness or capacity for sustained improvement.
